Evelyn Ferrall gets a little help choosing her next read from Sirus, a whippet who is a part of the reading program "Paws and Read". Once a week Sirus, a certified therapy animal and his owner/trainer, Paula Milnes, visit the library in an effort to help children from the ages of six to eight work on their reading skills.

Some children, like Dylan Barron pictured here, have difficulty reading and often withdraw from reading out loud in the classroom. This program offers children like Dylan a safe place to read out loud without judgment and with the help from the dogs trained owner.
